Wild Lilies: Watercolor Interior Commission for a Private Collector

“Wild Lilies”
Watercolor on Paper, 36" × 60" · 2025 Private Collector

Wild Lilies was created as a custom interior commission inspired by the lush gardens and poetic atmosphere often found in Japanese Impressionist paintings. My client envisioned a peaceful, immersive scene filled with soft greenery, delicate blooms, and the gentle glow of a summer morning.

The project began with a preliminary 18" × 24" watercolor study, allowing me to explore the composition, refine the color palette, and experiment with techniques before moving to the final large-scale painting. This early artwork became an important part of the creative process, helping shape the mood and visual direction of the finished piece.

As I worked on the 36" × 60" watercolor, the painting became a place of calm and inspiration for me—a world of quiet beauty that I looked forward to returning to each day. Through layered washes, expressive brushwork, and subtle details, I sought to capture the feeling of standing among wild lilies as sunlight filters through the garden.

The completed artwork was delivered fully framed and ready to hang. Seeing it installed in its new home was truly rewarding, as the piece brought a luminous presence and distinctive character to the space.

Projects like Wild Lilies remind me why I love creating custom artwork. It is a privilege to transform a personal vision into a meaningful piece that becomes part of someone's everyday life, and I am grateful to have been entrusted with creating this special commission.
